City of Indian Rocks Beach Reaffirms Commitment to Preserving Residential Neighborhoods

The City of Indian Rocks Beach Commission has adopted a resolution affirming the City’s commitment to preserving and promoting full-time residential communities, recognizing the importance of homeownership in single-family neighborhoods, and acknowledging the impacts that short-term rentals can have on the City’s resident population.

The resolution reflects the City’s ongoing dedication to maintaining the unique character, stability, and sense of community that have long defined Indian Rocks Beach. As a small coastal community, Indian Rocks Beach values the contributions of full-time residents who invest in their homes, participate in civic life, and help foster strong neighborhood connections.

While recognizing the rights of property owners and the role tourism plays in the local economy, the City Commission also acknowledges concerns regarding the growing prevalence of short-term rentals and their potential effects on neighborhood cohesion, housing availability, and the long-term residential character of the community.

“Indian Rocks Beach has always been more than just a destination, it is a community of neighbors,” said Mayor-Commissioner Lan Vaughan. “This resolution reaffirms our commitment to preserving the qualities that make our city such a special place to call home and draw tourism. We recognize the importance of homeownership, stable neighborhoods, and the relationships that are built when residents invest in their community. As we look to the future, we remain committed to protecting and strengthening the residential character that defines Indian Rocks Beach.”

The resolution serves as a formal statement of the City’s values and priorities as local leaders continue to evaluate policies that support full-time residents and preserve the quality of life enjoyed by generations of Indian Rocks Beach neighbors.

The City remains dedicated to its mission of Building Community by fostering neighborhoods where residents can live, connect, and thrive.
