On January 1, 2024, at approximately 12:15 AM, a large fire was lit on the beach within the City of Indian Rocks Beach. Public Safety Officials including the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Indian Rocks Beach Code Enforcement, and Pinellas Suncoast Fire Rescue responded. Upon arrival, it was determined that a large number of Christmas trees had been set on fire with a container of accelerant. This action represents a violation of the City of Indian Rocks Beach City Code, and the use of accelerant represents possible violations of State and Federal laws. The City of Indian Rocks Beach takes this illegal act as a serious threat to the public and our environment. In addition to other measures, the City is reviewing various privately owned security camera feeds in an attempt to confirm the identity of the responsible party(ies).

The City of Indian Rocks Beach is asking that anyone with information surrounding this act to provide anonymous information to the City of Indian Rocks Beach at 727-595-2517.
